Okay you begin planning your wedding with unsolicited assistance from your mother, sister and friends and it has been a headache, but with results. You received word from your manager you will be traveling for the next several months. With much too do in the planning you begin to panic, should you postpone the wedding, well no that would mean sending out cancellation cards to negate save the date cards. Allowing your mother, sister and friends complete the planning is not an option.

You then think should I hire a wedding planner? maybe so, maybe no. Hiring a wedding planner is best always when you have a stressful job, traveling or planning a wedding in your hometown and you reside outside the city / state or you just want a destination wedding on an island.

Changing the reins in planning a wedding:

1. Discuss with the wedding planner exactly what accomplishment you have achieved in your planning

2. The wedding colors, the theme should you have one,(not all weddings have a theme)

3. If you have contacted or and contracted with any vendors the planner should know. Why?, well this prevents duplication of vendors and the planner will need to meet with vendors, review their contracts to be certain how to follow through and the frequency of interaction with vendors to be certain your day of celebration is one of perfection.

4. Your current budget and any additional income you will be investing in your wedding as well as your maximum. Your maximum should be two numbers the actual budget and the amount you will go over.

Your Green Wedding

Having a green wedding is indeed saving the universe or rather a contribution to the survival of atmosphere. There are brides on board for a complete green wedding and are able to plan their dream wedding “green”. However a green wedding is not for all brides, but let us talk and think for a minute those who are not into green, how about one or two aspects of your wedding being green.

Consider a few of the listed or join the forum at juanitasenchantment.com and contribute your commitment to a green wedding.

A. Glassware, silverware, linen napkins.

B. If you just want paper napkins, how about a high grade, recycled napkin with your monogram

C. Candlelight ceremony or 80% candlelight.

D. Silk flowers- there are many florist that design silk flowers to look uncanny to the real

E. Should you use live flowers, donate the flowers to a hospital, or a nursing home, better yet how about donating the flowers to indigent patients in the hospital; this will add a ray of love to their life.

F. This next suggestion requires a lot of thought and consideration, but if your good friend is getting married, how about a double wedding. Of course color and financing must be discussed and shared.

Planning a wedding, as I have and will continue to say, can be frustrating. For the DIY bride choose your limits. What this means is to decide what part of planning your wedding you’d like assistance. A wedding planner can be hired at any stage in planning your wedding. A few tips to assist in choosing your wedding planner.

1. When choosing a wedding planner, it is essential to find out if there is a free consultation. A free consultation can be 30 minutes to 1.5 hrs. Each wedding planner may have a different routine, but the end results are the same. Questions of your wedding, colors, finances, why you decided on a wedding planner. No, this consultation is not a discussion of referral of vendors.

2. Use the consultation as a time to connect to your planner. If there are questions, doubts or concerns PLEASE verbalize it to your planner the response will assist in your decision to hire.

3. Be honest with your wedding planner of your expectations and finances. Be open to suggestions that will enhance the beautification of your wedding. Hire a wedding planner today!

Brides and Bridesmaidzilla

Getting married and planning your wedding is celebration to be remembered as joyous, by the bridal party and guests.

Brides dismiss all your bridesmaidzillas. If your bridesmaid is ill mannered, bad tempered, drama provocative, loud, that personality may not change at your wedding. Yes, think twice perhaps three times before allowing anyone with such a personality participate in your wedding.

I recently attended a wedding as a guest and was shocked at the behavior and outburst of the bride, no of the bridesmaid. I heard screaming as I am certain of other guest, “you cannot walk down the aisle with a veil on, you are not getting married, this is my wedding I do not care how you want to look different.” What a bridesmaid wanting to wear a veil?

Within minutes another shout, “you have on too much makeup, the makeup artist did not do that.” A reply from the bridesmaid “I can wear what I want I need heavy eye shadow.” Why she was not asked to leave? I am not sure, the drama continued. I as well as the guest know who she was how? Well she had heavy eye shadow on and talked as she walked down the aisle as well during the entire ceremony making faces at intervals. Did it stop here no she complained at the reception to many guests and steady shouted “I should sue right?” I am uncertain what individual escorted her away but THANKS.

To all brides, if you have doubt on a bridesmaid, think about it. If there will be pressure or challenged behavior by family members, friends, or your fiancé I recommend a polite excuse to your decision. This will be your day, your celebration and your memory. Choose bridesmaid or bridesmaidzilla?

Who's Financing Your Wedding

What? Are there loans to finance a wedding? Possibly however I am without knowledge of any.

I speak of the individual paying the cost of your wedding.

This individual could be your mother, father, or grandparents.

If a family member is financing or assisting in financing discuss their expectations in planning your wedding.

You may think “their expectation”, “it is my wedding”. This statement is half correct, “your wedding”. Anyone assisting or financing your wedding may want to share in a decision or two.

It is embarrassing after the wedding plans are finalized and a percentage of payment is due to find out the individual financing the wedding verbalizes dislikes and refuse payment. To avoid drastic upsets I have a few tips.

1. At your consultation with your planner bring the individual financing

2. Discuss their concerns and where they would like to be included

3. Compromise. If necessary include your wedding planning or call and discuss a concern of with your wedding planner. Wedding planners have a talent to negotiate and compromise that will satisfy all individuals involved.

4. Enjoy your experience. You are GETTING MARRIED!

Being An Encore Bride

Are you an encore bride? For those with raised eyebrow(s), "an encore bride" is being a bride the second time.

Encore brides usually experience many of the frustrations as first time brides and more with already established family.

Tips to the encore bride:

1. Include all children in the wedding; you may have your entire wedding party established.

2. Include family members of the previous marriage that are with a close relationship with the children.

3. The roles for children can be used as:

a. Ushers

b. Bridesmaids

c. Flower girls

d. Ring bearer

e. Greeter – greet each visitor and direct to the guest sign in book

f. Escort mothers and grandmothers down the aisle

g. Distribute programs to guests

4. Share with your wedding planner you are an encore bride and the suggestions may be extended.

5. Meet with everyone and let each know their role. Let the meeting be festive to get everyone in a joyous mode.

A Bride's Nightmare

The day of your wedding is here! Hooray!

The wedding gown is gorgeous; the bridesmaids have verbally adored it a million times. You have exercised beyond your normal level, counted calories for a month because you want to look fabulous and maybe indulge a bit on the honeymoon.

The make-up artist has added glam to your beautiful face and now with assistance of your maid of honor you are ready to get into that gorgeous gown. Suddenly something is wrong, the bodice is too tight. Wow there is panic; you hold your breath as others come to assist. You are lost the dress was a perfect fit last week but now just walking down the aisle and getting through your ceremony is all you are hoping for with a silent wince.

Unfortunately this happens because of food prior to the wedding may cause a slight shift in water weight. There are many seamstresses, perfect at on the spot alterations, on the spot steaming, are available to brides for that “just in case moment”.

The service for being present “just in case”, is very minimum. However the fee is increased if the service is actually utilized.

Be prepared. You must look perfect, beautiful, glam and fabulous when walking down the aisle to meet your handsome groom.

Wedding Day - Wedding Stress

It is known for many brides to overly stress on their wedding day. Why? This is your day, and perfection is what you seek.

Tips to de stress the bride:

1. Create a check list the week before the wedding and check everything on the list two days prior to your wedding.

2. Have a spa day two days prior to your wedding. Get a massage, wraps but avoid any facials related to any dermal abrasions as your facial display may not return a glow the day of the wedding.

3. Meditate and or yoga every morning a week prior to the wedding. I recommend only meditation the morning of.

4. Hire a wedding planner to give all the stress to someone else.

Now that you have hired a wedding planner, executed your glam wedding, you feel a huge relief. All contracts signed, dresses fitted, the chief has changed the menu to your specification.

Today you and your fiancé will meet with the wedding planner to discuss any loose ends, and what happens? Your fiancé does not agree to the menu and the venue he feels is too small. To increase the stress all members of his family are allergic to nuts which are the crust of the salmon and the filling of the steak. Unknown to you, the bride to be, your soon to be husband is allergic to strawberries and chocolate the icing and filling in the cake.

Now what? Of course the menu has to be changed. Depending on the day of the wedding and refund policy the venue may or may not be relocated. If the reception venue is changed you must immediately mail out notifications to all guests, of course the wedding planner will assist with all changes and mail out.

Brides there are many fiancés who will say “baby just plan the wedding, it is your day, I love you.” I agree it is your day your fiancé has a major role in your day. This being said communicate with your husband to be on all phases of the wedding, color, menus, guests, finances.

In most weddings the groom to be will agree to his bride's decision, he wants you to be happy and be married to you.

A wedding planner‘s goal is to plan the ultimate ceremony. The bride should know exactly what she wants. I know eyebrows are raised, what the bride wants? Many think the wedding planner should know and deliver.

This statement is partially true, however if the bride does not have an idea or clue what she wants for her wedding and all preparations and venues are rejected this rocks the Tips to glam your wedding:

Dream, dream and dream, create your vision of your wedding. This is your wedding, not your best friend, sister, or Mom. Dreaming and envisioning your wedding can take an hour or several days.

Do you have a theme? If so share it with your wedding planner.

What are your colors? Sometimes this phase can be difficult and it is not unusual for a bride to change colors several months into planning. I recommend take time on the colors there are other areas that will not change and to focus on. You can focus on the bridal party, venues, invitations, save the date invitations, guests, and much more until the color decision is made.

If you would like the wedding planner to glam your entire wedding great just have the following:

Theme, date, guest list, bridal party names and information of contact, and your budget. You will communicate on a set scheduled time with your wedding planner on all accomplishments.

Before you hire a wedding planner, question yourself as to why? Be true to your reasons. A wedding planner has many roles, suggestions, and associates she can utilize in making your ceremony one specific to your dreams.

The bride must know exactly why she is hiring a wedding planner to begin your thought process begin by:

Dreaming- visually picture your dreams

Write down a list of things you want to perform yourself, of course it is okay if you want the planner to do it all.

Present this list to your wedding planner. With an overview of the list the planner can better plan your wedding.

Know your expectations, and which area of planning is frustrating.

Be certain you can relate and communicate to the wedding planner on all levels.

As a WPS (wedding personality specialist), it is a priority I know the personality of my brides to enable my suggestions to be receptive and display a picture of the bride. I must admit I am overwhelmed when I hear “AWWW” .

The Venue is Gone

The reception venue is “paid in full”; you’ve contacted the florist after hours of search. The decoration is in the venue package, the colors are perfect. Thanks to good friends you now have a wonderful DJ and the string music group is fantastic. However the chief and menu offered was not exactly as you wanted and though usually not allowed the venue allowed you to choose a catering company.

Wow everything is going GREAT. Being excited with your accomplishments and following a schedule of contacting each vendor monthly it was no way an error could happen.

The receptionist at the venue called to report an error had occurred, the venue had double booked without knowledge on your wedding day for the same time of day and hours. An apology was given and an offer to change your date. How can you change your date, invitations are out, all arrangements with vendors are paid, who and how could this happen?

Your response was no, as anxiety increased inducing a migraine. The thought of locating a venue and contacting each guest within 10 days is elevating your heart rate. Your decision is get a refund, gather friends and anyone you are acquainted with to assist in a resolution. No, was the reply of the venue, no refund it is in the contract after 30 days no refund you can however change the date. You read the contract hurriedly and not its entirety prior to signing.

A wedding planner reviews all vendor contracts, edit as need to protect the bride. At the stage in your planning hire a wedding planner. The planner will work diligently with you in locating a venue within 10 days to your satisfaction, contact your guests and decrease the tension and migraine but you must let the planner know what has occurred and specifically the assistance you require.

For all DIY brides slow down on your reading of contracts, hire a wedding planner. You may only require assistance in one or maybe two areas this is your decision, unfortunates can and do occur.
